Your Ultimate Guide to Flawless Eyebrows

You'll never over-tweeze again.

Big, bold eyebrows are definitely having a moment. Just look at brow-blessed celebs like Cara Delevingne and Camilla Belle. But how can you make yours gorgeous without the help of an A-list makeup team? We enlisted advice from brow specialist Joey Healy, who took us through the step-by-step process for achieving envy-inducing brows:
That was the Cliff's Notes version. Here are more pointers on how you can get your brows in tip-top shape:
Before You Start...Wash your face, and sit near a window so you get plenty of natural light. Make sure you have a mirror and stainless-steel angled tweezers handy. Healy likes Tweezerman Slant Tweezer ($22, tweezerman.com).
Get the Perfect PlacementTaking your finger, feel for exactly where your brow bones are. (You'll know where it is because it's the ridge between your lower forehead and your eye socket.) Your brows should sit directly on top of these, so tweeze any hairs that fall beyond your brow bones.
Tip: Take a step back from time to time and go back and forth between both brows (rather than doing one at a time) to ensure they come out evenly.
Shape SubtlyMake your arch about two-thirds of the way out on your brow bone. Try revealing just a bit of your brow bone and erring on the side of leaving your brows on the thicker side. After all, you can always remove more hair later if you like.
Do Damage ControlIf you have any gaps or a scar on your eyebrows, use a pencil like the Tom Ford Brow Sculptor ($44, tomford.com) to make short strokes in the direction of the hair growth. Use a spoolie to blend so the marks aren't noticeable. (If you don’t have any obviously sparse areas, you can skip this step.)
Tip: Pick your pencil color based on the darkest part of your brows, which is usually somewhere in the middle of them.
Enhance the ColorUse a stiff brow brush like the MAC 208 Angled Brow Brush ($20, maccosmetics.com) with just a touch of powder on it (again, it should be the color of the darkest part of your brow) to push the makeup into your brow in the direction the hair grows. Healy recommends his own Luxe Brow Powder ($28, joeyhealy.com). Blend with a spoolie, and repeat this process to build up the hue until you achieve the desired effect.
Set Your LookUse a flexible-hold brow gel like the Joey Healy Brow Structure Clear Set ($25, joeyhealy.com) to ensure your brows stay flawless all day long. Then go work those gorgeous face framers!
